The media focuses on Democratic infighting without pointing out that Republicans are doing nothing to help the country and in fact are impediments.
Instead of just saying it’s disappointing that Democrats won’t support certain things, the editorial should point out that Republicans won’t support any of the items that are in the reconciliation bill or that were considered. Don’t give Republicans a free pass!

this captures a lot about the DC ecosystem. Every Republican in the Senate not only opposes paid leave but agreed to filibuster it. https://t.co/Bxb1CLUMlz

Another reason: Zero Republican votes. https://t.co/64wMAEH9U4

good for Brian. reporters obsessing over Democratic wrangling leave Republicans completely off the hook. https://t.co/CyJ7LfNSDD

This is a reasonable question, but it might also be worthwhile to ask them about the fact that every Republican in Congress voted against the expanded CTC.

GOP conduct shouldn't be treated as such an inevitable background condition of our politics that it doesn't merit scrutiny. https://t.co/cBjgA8x589
Just spitballing here, but what if we covered the fact that 99 percent of elected Democrats want paid leave and 100 percent of Republicans oppose it. https://t.co/gYe0h62sAK

Anyone who watches my show knows I am as critical of Manchinema as the next person – if not more so! – but why do we give *50* GOP senators a pass? Why aren’t they constantly being asked by reporters why they don’t support popular & necessary measures on climate or paid leave?

Democrats are struggling, with bare majorities, for ways to use the federal govt to address climate change and help struggling families with health care, child care, education and housing
— John Harwood (@JohnJHarwood) October 28, 2021
Republicans are showing again their opposition to using the federal govt for those purposes
