Trump’s mocking of Dr. Ford was disgusting. The laughter of his cult members was just as bad.

At a Mississippi rally tonite Donald Trump actually *mocked* Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s poignant Senate testimony about Brett Kavanaugh’s alleged attempt to rape her. Trump could hold his tongue no longer. We have to hope Brett Kavanaugh would’ve found that display disgusting.

Trump's aides and allies are saying he didn't mock Blasey Ford, just factually pointed out what she'd said. But he wasn't factual: she didn't say she didn't know if the alleged assault happened upstairs or downstairs, didn't say "the only thing I remember" is that she had a beer.

Tonight the president of the United States mocked her. And the crowd laughed. https://t.co/yUuZlIY6A2

Trump’s vision of perpetual backlash sets up 18 & 20 as a collision between what America has been & what it is becoming. Laughter 2nite showed how deeply Trump’s coalition of restoration is invested in that fight. Will those who welcome America’s changes match their intensity? https://t.co/FuPdnTHoSr

This is an epiphany we all keep having again and again, like Groundhog Day. Trump has a keen eye for which cultural scabs to pick at, and does so with a purpose, not through random free associating. https://t.co/2v1lwYzSKj
