The original version of “Land of 1000 Dances” was by Chris Kenner in 1962. There are well known covers by Cannibal & the Headhunters and Wilson Pickett.

Remembering Wilson Pickett, born on this day in 1941 in Prattville, Alabama. Here he is performing "Land of a Thousand Dances" in Ghana in 1971. Wilson’s daughter Saphan Pickett told us that playing this concert was one of her father’s most proud moments. pic.twitter.com/2mOVQ97mMC
