The Republican Party is still the Trump cult

Republican officials may be appalled by the riot but I don’t think it will change the mind of their voters. Their base is Trump cult and I expect them to still believe the lie that the election was stolen from Trump. Trump will never back off from it and his cult won’t either.

Since Jan. ‘19, the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll has asked GOP voters if they identify more as supporter of President Trump or as a supporter of the Republican Party. In almost every poll, more Republicans identified as supporters of Trump than of the Republican Party. 1/5

Too many people — particularly political journalists — simply do not seem to understand that outside Trump, the Republican Party is not controlled by lawmakers as much as it is controlled by media personalties such as Hannity, Limbaugh, Levin, Beck, Carlson, Ingraham, etc.
