Politico list on all of the people who have left the Washington Post

Politico compiled a list of people who've left The Washington Post over the last eight months and it's three pages long. Think it's important to be transparent about how many people have left, and why h/t @benmullin.bsky.socialwww.politico.com/f/?id=000001…

I know at least ten other people departing or already gone, *besides* people leaving Opinions for the newsroom, who aren’t even on this list — including big names who are major subscriber draws

Once again, if you're wondering why Bezos doesn't seem bothered that he's wrecking The Post, keep in mind that he spent twice what The Post cost him just on his boat.He can afford to wreck this toy. All those lives and careers where just playthings for him.

Of the flow of talent from the Post, this one is maybe the hardest to take. Rampell packed data and evidence and deep policy knowledge into the format of an opinion column. At once clarifying and sophisticated. (And her last column is also terrific advice about writing).

scoop: @davejorgenson, one of the breakout stars of the Marty Baron era of The Post, is leaving to start his own company with two Post alumswww.nytimes.com/2025/07/22/b…

And, uh, some personal news: This is also my last column for The Post. I was offered and accepted a buyout. To answer one possible next question, I'm not sure what's next save taking some time off. If you want, you can enter your email at pbump.net and I'll let you know when I figure it out!

This is really terrible: Davidson had one specific beat, which was understanding the federal workforce. It is a huge loss, and speaks poorly to how things are going at the Post.

This email says the Washington Post opinion page will promote “timeless American values,” which has previously been defined as right-wing claptrap. All Washington Post journalists not “aligned” with the decision to promote those values are now being told to leave.

Lots of brilliant colleagues mark the ends of their Post careers today. But the special thing about this newsroom is its incredible spirit of camaraderie and friendship. Every legend who leaves has mentored countless others who are going to take up the baton. Underestimate us at your own peril.

I said farewell to the @washingtonpost.com today, after 30 years. My note to my friends and colleagues, threaded:

The Washington Post is losing its world class fact checker. Glenn Kessler tried “to arrange a short-term contract that would have given the editors time to find a worthy successor and allow me to train him or her.”But Jeff Bezos’ WaPo is lost. #Journalism http://www.linkedin.com/posts/glennk…
