DeSantis is terrible
I read the memo he sent to teachers.

It sets up a byzantine, multi-step book approval process that makes it virtually impossible for schools to have any books that aren't preapproved by the state. It's a book ban. No doubt.
With felony charges for teachers who don't comply. https://t.co/csJ93Yvy7n

As I understand it, there is legislation underway, but not yet passed, that will allow for parents in FL to monitor for content NOT contained.

Pass it on, Mike. https://t.co/6xrcx0blQz #
Once again, these books aren't simply banned. It is a FELONY for teachers to let students borrow them, possibly including jail time.

At a Florida school where teachers are being told to hide all books or risk 5 years in prison, “the kids began crying and writing letters to the principal, saying, ‘Please don’t take my books, please don’t do this.’”

This is because of a new DeSantis law. https://t.co/L4VAg0P31C
Yesterday we logged almost 200 challenges- about 150 of those resulted in immediate removals.

This is a picture of all the books removed from one HS library, in one day, in one District, due to the objections of one man.
