Similarities between the 1983 Orioles and 2023 Ravens

The 1979 Orioles lost the World Series after having a 3-1 lead in games. The 2019 Ravens lost in their first playoff game after dominating the NFL with a 14-2 record.

I have read interviews with the Orioles players from back then about how determined they were to get back to the World Series and win it after their 1979 loss.

Ravens players have made similar statements about 2019.

The Orioles won the World Series four years later in 1983. Will the Ravens win the Super Bowl in 2023? Their record isn’t as good as it was in 2019 but this is a better team. I think they get it done.

The Ravens are having a great season

The defense demolished the 49ers. They gave up points and yards when the game had already been decided.

Lamar Jackson has been outstanding. He makes great decisions and gets help from his receivers when he has to improvise. The biggest surprise on Monday was that the offensive tackles held up.
