The majority of Democrats approve of Biden’s pardon of his son

The voters understand that Trump would keep going after Hunter Biden. They may anyway.

News Analysis: The criticism of President Biden's pardon of his son from within his own party underscores how far gone his relationship with Democrats in Congress already was, our congressional correspondent writes.

You left out the fact that the majority of Democrats in the country support the pardon. Apparently, we take the potential for Trump to keep attacking Hunter Biden more seriously than our representatives do. bsky.app/profile/toda…

Mojo Magazine – 60 greatest Bob Dylan songs

A great article in an excellent magazine. Each song has a writeup by a musician.

Trump is filling posts with billionaires

They will look out for themselves. They will cut services to people to pay for the tax cuts for the rich. Rich people not in the next administration are sucking up to Trump.

Besides Donald Trump, Elon Musk and his fellow DOGE head Vivek Ramaswamy, at least 11 billionaires will be serving key roles in the administration. Whether it acts as a government for billionaires could test and potentially tarnish Trump's populist legacy. trib.al/gExhwrT

I bet he is! Billionaires–already people with enormous freedoms due to their wealth– feel that it is an affront to have their grand schemes curbed by regulations. Read Brooke Harrington's work on this.

America now has 815 billionaires who currently hold a record $6.7 trillion in wealth. The bottom 50% of Americans control $3.7 trillion in wealth. When 815 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Important point I learned from this paper – overestimation of the population sizes of minority groups is a more general cognitive error and NOT a domain-specific misperception.

Trump doesn’t care about his opponents

Fascinated by this Pew finding: "Americans give Trump low marks for his efforts to date to reach out to those who supported Kamala Harris in the election."Question: has Trump done *anything* to reach out to those who supported Kamala Harris in the election? http://www.pewresearch.org/politics/202…

Daniel Drezner (@dandrezner.bsky.social) 2024-11-22T19:25:56.762Z

He’s done nothing to reach out to Harris supporters. I haven’t forgotten how he called opponents vermin and the enemy within during the campaign.

Washington Post article on Trump and TikTok leaves important information out

The Washington Post published the article below which includes information on Trump’s change in position to pro TikTok. It leaves out his contacts with Republican donors, one who owns a share of TikTok. These discussions presumably were influential in changing his position. Trump responds to people who give him money. I wrote a tweet reply to the Post on this but they haven’t added anything to their article.

Cornyn’s hypocrisy on recess appointment

John Cornyn, a Republican senator from Texas, supports Trump’s goal of recess appointments. He opposed them when Obama did them.

Manu Raju on CNN made a tweet on Cornyn’s current position. I replied asking if he asked Cornyn on his prior position.

See my posts on X (Twitter.) I am taking a Twitter break

Trump will use the appointments of unqualified people like Gaetz and Kennedy to increase his power. He’s shitting on Republican senators who will have two bad options:

  1. vote for bad choices to avoid the wrath of Trump and threats from his cult
  2. Let Trump increase power with recess appointments. They can avoid voting this way.

I predict they will take the coward’s way out – recess appointments.
