More and more, I read columns where people wonder why Trump would be so pro-Putin and anti-American allies. I really think Russia has something on Trump. How else can you explain his behavior?
Why would Trump want to destroy NATO? (Why the softball question?)
The answer is obvious: to please Putin, do his bidding, keep his political and financial help flowing in midterms and 2020, and keep the lid on all the dirt Putin has on Trump & his circle.

While Republicans sleep: A rising tide of authoritarianism sweeps over capitals in Turkey and the Philippines, in Hungary and Poland, in far right parties in Germany, France and Austria. And President Trump cozies up to Putin and shuns our NATO allies. Wake up! Do your jobs.

“Worth noting that Trump’s incendiary comments about NATO are guaranteed to bring a big smile to the face of the man the U.S. president will be meeting in a few days. That would be Vladimir Putin.” Great piece by @ccaryl https://t.co/GgAeKD13KB

Today, in a 97-2 vote, the Senate sent an overwhelming message to President Trump to stand by our NATO allies and to stand against President Putin.
— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) July 10, 2018
This is why those who believe that Trump is just a brief aberration are overly naive. Millions of Americans now think NATO bad, Putin good; Millions think the press is the enemy of the people; that it’s ok to call to imprison your opponent; and to openly be a bigot, etc… https://t.co/29R08fqETM

NEW: Trump's `behavior this morning is another profoundly disturbing signal that the President is more loyal to President Putin than to our NATO allies,' Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi say in joint statement pic.twitter.com/vNPqh7La2d

Worth noting that Vladimir Putin has done, and is doing, far worse than the NATO allies who don’t spend 2% of their GDP on defense, yet Putin has never once received a tongue-lashing from Donald Trump.
This isn’t about money. It’s about Trump’s creepy allegiance to Russia.
