Terrible!
Sarah Huckabee Sanders is given 3 separate chances to say the press is not the "enemy of the American people.'
She passes each time.

Still cannot believe this is the White House press secretary saying this. Been a professional journalist since 1990. Aside from DC the only other place I have lived is Russia, which is where the ‘enemy of the people’ phrase comes from. It doesn’t belong in the USA. https://t.co/MKSfEFj73X

I walked out of the end of that briefing because I am totally saddened by what just happened. Sarah Sanders was repeatedly given a chance to say the press is not the enemy and she wouldn't do it. Shameful.

An extraordinarily disappointing moment by @PressSec just now… Her inability to acknowledge the role POTUS has played in all of this media bashing only hurts her own credibility…She had a chance to defend the institution and take the high ground and show leadership, instead..

Sarah Huckabee Sanders does not answer whether the press is the enemy of the people.
This is your regular reminder that the last Administration to attack the press this way was … the Nixon Administration.
Our framers were wise to protect the press in the Constitution. https://t.co/xwFid2mg7L

Some leading journos are saying it's "sad" and "disappointing" that Sarah Sanders refused to clarify that the media isn't the enemy of the people.
Understandable but insufficient. These people have been trying to destroy your profession's institutional role from the outset!

One of the most disengenuous events I’ve witnessed. @Acosta asked repeatedly about us being the enemy of the people and SHS repeats a laundry list of slights and her need for SS protection. 5 dead in Annapolis.

CNN's @Acosta on contentious WH press conference: "Honestly Brooke, I'm tired of this …. It is not right, it is not fair, it is not just, it is un-American to come out here and call the press the enemy of the people"https://t.co/1oGZa7f57j pic.twitter.com/sqEkOE89SM

Sarah Sanders refused to grant that the free press is not actually "the enemy of the people," and the briefings are useless anyway. The White House press should stop going: https://t.co/sDyxM6U4N4
