Wes Wilson

Wes Wilson, one of the original psychedelic rock poster artists in the late 1960s, died on January 24, 2020.

I had one of his posters when I was a teenager in the 1960s. I didn’t take good care of it and ultimately threw it out. Fortunately, I got another copy a few years ago at Wolfgang’s Vault online and framed it. See art for sale at the Vault here.

I had a postcard of this poster.

Wes Freed

Wes Freed has done many terrific covers for Drive-By Truckers albums and their concert posters. A new book of his art is available from his web site wesfreed.com

Charles Addams

Before the Addams Family TV show from the 1960s and the Addams Family films from the 1990s, there were the cartoons by Charles Addams. They primarily appeared in the New Yorker.

Most of the characters from the TV show appear in the cartoons. Thing and Cousin It were not in the cartoons as far as I know but every other major character was in the cartoons. Addams also drew other cartoons that featured his sinister sense of humor. Books and prints are available. This is the link to the Tee and Charles Addams Foundation.

Cadillac Ranch

The Cadillac Ranch is an art project in Amarillo, Texas consisting of 10 half-buried Cadillacs.  Visitors paint the card which are periodically repainted with solid colors.

It inspired Bruce Springsteen’s 1980 song “Cadillac Ranch”.
