Beginning of the New Domino Sugar sign

The LED sign will replace the landmark neon sign near the harbor in Baltimore. The South Baltimore Peninsula Post has been covering it. Check out their posts on Instagram.

The first Orioles Opening Day in 1954

Opening day of the baseball season is great. I have been to about a dozen of them in Baltimore, all but one at Memorial Stadium.

Baltimore’s Bromo Seltzer Tower

Baltimore’s Bromo Seltzer Tower was part of the Bromo Seltzer factory downtown. The factory is gone and the tower now houses artist studios. The design was based on the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy. There used to be a Bromo Seltzer bottle at the top.

Baltimore’s Domino Sugars sign

This landmark neon sign south of the harbor was taken down recently. Pieces of it will be given to Domino employees and sold at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. It is being replaced with an LED sign. (I guess that’s a sign of the times.) I love neon (and have five neon signs in my house) but assume LEDs last longer and are more durable.

Baltimore’s Pepsi sign

The Pepsi sign on the Jones Falls Expressway (I-83) is a Baltimore landmark. I saw recent news that it is now in need of repairs. About 40 years ago, I bought a used neon sign (just the glass) and went to Claude Neon to get the rest of the hardware to operate the sign. I met the man who made the Pepsi sign.
