Former Yum CEO on Crystal Pepsi: every leader has an ‘epic fail’
Western fries appear to be a Baltimore-area thing. I couldn’t find anything about the origins and neither could this blogger who had lived here. They’re basically thick seasoned potato wedges, usually with the skin on.

I love pizza and have had some great ones here in Baltimore during the pandemic, I support local restaurants and haven’t ordered from the national chains. The best pizza I have had is from Two Boots, a small chain that used to have a location in Baltimore.
Macaroni and cheese pizza from Brick Oven Pizza (BOP):

Detroit style pizza (10″ x 14:) from Underground Pizza. They’re so thick that two or three slices are enough at one time. This one with nacho toppings is my favorite but has only been offered occasionally.

I remember the Automat which was made popular in the US by Horn & Hardart. The first one was opened in 1902 in Philadelphia. You put money in a slot in front of a piece of food, then opened the door and took out the food. The Automats are gone but the silverware is available as antiques.
A film on the Automat was recently released. It will be on DVD on 9/20/22.
update 10/10/22: I just watched the film and really enjoyed it. It brought back memories of my childhood in Manhattan.
