The city built a hotel near the convention center. Private industry wouldn’t do it. I trust their judgement, not the city’s. The city should not be in the hotel business and it has been a big money loser. The pandemic made the situation worse.
Blonde jokes are generally based on baseless stereotypes of blonde women. For example “Why do blondes use panties? To keep their ankles warm.”
My favorite blonde joke (and there are lots of variations online) goes like this.
A blind guy goes into a bar and asks the bartender if he wants to hear a blonde joke.
The bartender says “Before you tell that joke, you ought to know that the guy sitting next to you is a wrestler who weighs 200 pounds and is blonde. The guy on the other side is a boxer and weighs 250 pounds. He’s blonde too. The guy next to him weighs 300 pounds and is a football player. He’s blonde and I am too. Are you sure you still want to tell that joke?”
The blind guy says “Nah, now that I’d have to explain it four times.”
We learned how to use the slide rule when I was in school. Thanks to technology, I assume hardly anyone uses it anymore. In the US, Keuffel and Esser was the first company to make them. They stopped in 1975.
He’s terrible. He did not run as an extremist but that’s what he turned out to be.
Expo 67 was held in Montreal. World’s Fairs were a big deal in the 1960s. I don’t know if they even hold them now.
My family (2 adults, 2 children) stayed in a cramped mobile home. There was a food truck at the mobile home court. My mother was not impressed and cautioned us not to get anything that wasn’t in a package. We met a guy who was the only undertaker in a small town in North Carolina. He had food and said, “These are the best french fries I’ve ever had.” He showed us the undertaker’s handshake – you feel their pulse when you shake their hand.
