I have been watching a lot of Pre-Code Hollywood films. Here are clips from four starring Barbary Stanwyck. I wouldn’t call any of them great but her performances make them all enjoyable. She can be tough and caring in the same film.

Akira Kurosawa’s Yojimbo (1961) is a great samurai film and also extremely funny. Toshiro Mifune is great – strong and decisive surrounded by cowering weaklings. It’s available from the Criterion Collection on DVD and Blu-ray. Its sequel, Sanjuro (1962), is also excellent.
The Times and the Post should do better.
Why is the Cal Ripken, Jr. ball cheaper than the Gunnar Henderson ball? I’m sure part of the reason is that Ripken signed lots of autographs. Still, Ripken is in the Hall of Fame and Henderson has had one great year (similar to Ripken’s rookie year). There is no guarantee that he will have as good a career as Ripken though I hope he does.

1994 – $34.608 million
2024 – $255.4 million (over seven times as much)
Hail, Caesar! by the Coen Brothers is underrated.
