I was a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh when the Pirates won the 1971 World Series in October 1971. The game was on a Sunday afternoon. I lived on the 13th floor of a high-rise dorm which looked out over Forbes Avenue, a major Pittsburgh street. One of the guys had a tape recorder – the old kind about the size of a book with small reels – and hung it out the window. He could pick up the sounds from the packed street below. It was full of cars celebrating the big win. We heard that the Original Hot Dog Shop, the main place to get carry out beer nearby, ran out of beer. That’s hard to believe.

Washington Post article on Trump and TikTok leaves important information out
The Washington Post published the article below which includes information on Trump’s change in position to pro TikTok. It leaves out his contacts with Republican donors, one who owns a share of TikTok. These discussions presumably were influential in changing his position. Trump responds to people who give him money. I wrote a tweet reply to the Post on this but they haven’t added anything to their article.

Cornyn’s hypocrisy on recess appointment
John Cornyn, a Republican senator from Texas, supports Trump’s goal of recess appointments. He opposed them when Obama did them.
Manu Raju on CNN made a tweet on Cornyn’s current position. I replied asking if he asked Cornyn on his prior position.
See my posts on X (Twitter.) I am taking a Twitter break
Trump will use the appointments of unqualified people like Gaetz and Kennedy to increase his power. He’s shitting on Republican senators who will have two bad options:
- vote for bad choices to avoid the wrath of Trump and threats from his cult
- Let Trump increase power with recess appointments. They can avoid voting this way.
I predict they will take the coward’s way out – recess appointments.
Trump doesn’t deserve Biden’s courtesy
Biden hosted Trump at the White House today. I wouldn’t have done it;. Trump didn’t do it for him in 2020. Trump has never even conceded. Mrs, Trump didn’t accept the invitation from the First Lady which is disgraceful.
If I had been Harris, I wouldn’t have called Trump or congratulated him. I would have made a speech acknowledging that she lost and thanked her staff and voters.
You can’t have norms if only one side respects them. The country elected Trump so they think his disgusting behavior is alright.
Think about this: If the Democrats win the presidential election in 2024, will Trump invite the winner to the White House? I doubt it. To him, we are vermin and the enemy within.
Fuck him.
Covers: (Ain’t Nothin’ But a) House Party
“(Ain’t Nothin’ But a) House Party” was released by the Showstoppers in 1968 and covered by the J. Geils Band in 1973.
Trump hasn’t signed a required ethics pledge
I doubt he ever signs it and I don’t expect him to be held accountable. Trump is terrible.
“White Bird” (1969)
“White Bird” by It’s a Beautiful Day was very popular on FM rock stations when I was in high school. Their first album had a great cover – see the YouTube video below.
Tweet on a documentary on Hedy Lamarr
I have seen this film which is available on Blu-Ray. It’s excellent. Hedy Lamarr accomplished a lot.
There’s a new deluxe version of King of America by Elvis Costello
Great album. I just got the expanded version.
