Some social media posts on how great Lamar Jackson has been

He keeps improving. He is playing at an incredible level.

Lamar Jackson has the best ratio of boom/bust plays in the NFL this season. He leads the NFL in boom percentage and has the second-lowest bust percentage(For those unfamiliar with the terms- think of it in terms of what you'd consider "high value" and "negative value" plays)

More bad CNN coverage

No wonder ratings are down

this is how cnn and the rest of the mainstream media advocates for a right wing agenda. by adopting gop framing as "the common sense approach" and then getting democrats to supposedly argue *against* common sense, the entire enterprise is essentially shaped like a fox news segment. its total bs.

Why does this story quote long-gone Cillizza? And why does it resort to an anonymous source for the earth-shattering revelation, "Ratings control everything"?At CNN, lower TV ratings and heightened anxieties about what’s ahead http://www.washingtonpost.com/style/media/…

Republicans force reduced IRS funding so they can protect rich people and tax cheaters

IRS funding is working. IRS is recovering more money than they are spending. Republicans are not serious about saving government money since they won’t support IRS funding.

As former IRS commissioner John Koskinen has said: “Underfunding the agency is just a tax cut for tax cheats.” People who actually care about the deficit, much less a government that provides valuable services and protections for regular people, would never do this.

Robert Maguire (@robertmaguire.bsky.social) 2025-01-02T16:39:41.146Z

An IRS once again cut to the bone won’t have the resources to chase after the billions in taxes owed by the nation’s economic elite. That is the point, and everyone should care.

Terrible Republican behavior in North Carolina

Gutting the power of the governor and attorney general who are Democrats. They also have a bad challenge to an election they lost.

1/ A Republican judge who narrowly lost a race for a seat on the North Carolina Supreme Court is trying to get around 60,000 ballots thrown out based on a theory that some election deniers worried was too extreme: http://www.propublica.org/article/jeff…

The President and Vice President should publicly condemn what NC Republicans are doing as we condemn illiberal acts across the world. What NC Rs are doing is wrong, and our leaders should say so.

Simon Rosenberg (@simonwdc.bsky.social) 2024-12-14T14:53:36.956Z

Since the Tea Party take-over of the North Carolina GOP, the state has moved to the forefront of undemocratic measures to protect minority power.

Among other things, the bill moves authority over elections to the state auditor—not a role that oversees elections anywhere else—simply because a Republican happened to win that race last month

The Downballot (@the-downballot.com) 2024-12-11T22:01:09.316Z

Republicans are also trying to overturn their loss for North Carolina's Supreme Court, whose 5-2 GOP majority legalized gerrymandering & upheld voting restrictions in 2023.The only way voters can make elections fairer is electing a Dem majority, but the GOP stealing this seat would shift it to 6-1

Everyone should know about what's happening in North Carolina. Republicans are using Trump's playbook to try to overturn an election. I wrote about it last week:

CNN’s terrible description of Trump’s bullying of other countries

Looks like they have caved in, too. Cowards. They also left out Trump’s problems in Panama which could motivate him for revenge. See the last article.

CNN is hopelessly broken.1. This "expansion" would require military invasions of several allies in violation of international law.2. It would violate several treaties.3. The Louisiana Purchase was the sale of land by a colonial power (France). These are sovereign nations.

Marc Elias (@marcelias.bsky.social) 2024-12-24T16:58:01.510Z

This is better than what I wrote.

Oh, did he “tease” seizing other countries’ territory, @cnn.com? What a little scamp he is. What an incorrigible rascal.

Kevin M. Kruse (@kevinmkruse.bsky.social) 2024-12-24T04:02:21.265Z

My reply:

The US bought the Louisiana Purchase from France. That’s not the same as Trump threatening other countries. Another CNN failure.

US President-elect Donald Trump over the weekend suggested the US should retake the Panama Canal, an idea that was immediately rejected by the government of Panama, which has controlled the passage for decades. Here's a look back at the history of the canal.

You left this out:bsky.app/profile/drer…

Harris Levy (@harrislevy.bsky.social) 2024-12-24T02:44:18.352Z

Probably left it out deliberately. The media is sucking up to Trump.
