I have posted before about Parsons. He is one of my favorite musicians. I’ll link to a few songs at the bottom – one from the first Flying Burrito Brothers album and one each from his two solo albums.

This article reminded me of “Joy to the World”, a huge hit for Three Dog Night in 1971. It was written by Hoyt Axton who also recorded it.
On September 28, 2011 Orioles player Robert Andino got a hit off Red Sox closer Jon Papelbon which won the game and prevented the Red Sox from making the playoffs. I linked to a tweet with video.
That winter, I went to the Orioles FanFest and got Andino’s autograph. After that, I heard one fan tell another “I tried to get him to sign it ‘Suck it Pap’ but he wouldn’t”.

“Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” was a Jim Croce song from 1973. He died on September 20, 1973. See my other post about him. When I saw him, he and his accompanist (who also died in the plane crash), played acoustic guitar. It was just the two of them. I saw him on March 3, 1973.
