The Netanyahu debate at my alma mater

I graduated from Cheltenham High School in 1971. I am very opposed to Netanyahu’s policies.

Cheltenham School District officials & alumni association members met Friday & discussed a student petition to remove Bibi Netanyahu from the Hall of Fame, but didn’t make a decision.“Given the complexities involved & the heightened public discourse, we must proceed in a deliberate manner.”

Trump’s attacks on fair elections

The Trump administration is laying the groundwork for what could be the most aggressive federal intervention in election administration in modern history.

You’re assuming Trump obeys laws. He has shown repeatedly that he will break or ignore the law. He’s a convicted felon. I expect Democrats to be favored to win the House in 2026. I expect Trump to try to oppose that by preventing or invalidating elections or declaring a bogus emergency.

Trump is, again, attempting to do what he couldn't in 2020.Abuse the power of gov't to rig an election in his favor. But this isn't about 2020. It's a test run for 2026 and 2028.apnews.com/article/trum…

ESPN on the top 10 Orioles prospects

This list was made after the 2025 draft. The Orioles had seven early picks and a record money allotment and got good reviews for their selections.

I think Basallo will join the major league roster in August or September. I think Beavers will get a promotion too, maybe sooner depending on who the Orioles trade.

‘Sinners’ is an outstanding film

Tired of franchise and superhero movies? Want to see a completely original film? Then ‘Sinners’ is for you. It’s not like any other film I can name. It’s a unique Black Horror film. It’s got the blues, 1930s history, look and sound, vampires and great actors. Michael B. Jordan plays twins but this never seems like a stunt.

I watched the Blu-ray disc and recommend watching the bonus features, too. They are much better than normal and give insights into how the film was made. Usually, the bonus features are the director talking about how great the actors and and the producer and actors complimenting the director.

I wasn’t a horror fan but it seems that is where most of the really original films are. I’m thinking of Jordan Peele’s movies, ‘Talk to Me’, and ‘Late Night with the Devil’ to name a few. They all have a fresh contemporary look at horror.

It’s going to be impossible to rebuild the government after Trump

The employees and all of their knowledge will be gone – they will have moved on to other jobs or retired

Trump will have gotten rid of the buildings

I assume that the Trump administration will have destroyed paper and digital records so there will be no history or baseline to start from.

Nobody will want to work for the federal government. There is no job security. A future Republican administration can get rid of them and their work. The Supreme Court is Trump’s accomplice.

Republicans will try to block funding to rebuild agencies. Their increase to the debt from their tax cuts for rich people will also make it harder to get funding.

Absolutely this. It requires intention, infrastructure and resources. And it requires holding those who did it accountable

Supreme Court lets Trump destroy the federal govt while waiting to decide if it’s ok to destroy the federal govt. What am I missing here? How does this get put back together again? How many lives are destroyed before we find out if it’s legal? What msg to future leaders?www.cnn.com/2025/07/14/p…

Thanks to @brianbeutler.bsky.social for handing me the keys to his newsletter to talk about why the anti-Trump coalition needs to be thinking now about rebuilding the government once he leaves office — and about why we'll fail if we're too timid or play conventional budget politics.
