Trump and many close to him are antisemitic

Donald Trump is dismantling higher education under the pretext of fighting antisemitism while continuing to stock his administration with antisemites. The hypocrisy is boundless. And it only makes Jews less safe.

Under Rubio’s new vetting-for-antisemitism policy, several Trump aides — including Hegseth’s press secretary — would not be eligible for visas. http://www.npr.org/2025/05/14/n…

Donald Trump pardoned the “Camp Auschwitz” guy, dined with Holocaust deniers, and said, “any Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion.” He doesn’t care about fighting antisemitism. He’s using it as an opportunity to dismantle higher education and further his authoritarian agenda.

Blue states subsidize red states

🤔 What if the “Donor States” that contribute more $ to the federal gov than they get back for programs, services, contracts, and aid, demand new trade terms from Trump? 😁1 New Jersey2 Massachusetts3 New York4 Connecticut5 California6 Illinois7 Washington8 Colorado9 Minnesota10 Utah

REPUBLICAN MATH…Red states slash taxes, cut services because of less revenue than blue states like California have to make up for their shortfall.

Wow. All but five states have lower GDP than the San Francisco Bay Area.

If blue states kept their money, they would be fine or even better off. Red states would be in deep financial trouble.Example: California is the fourth largest economy on Earth. It grows over one third of America’s vegetables and two thirds of its fruits and nuts.

In 2023, NY contributed $89 billion more to the federal government than we received. Undocumented immigrants in NYC contributed $3 billion. So in theory we could just stop giving Republicans federal subsidies and pay for that marginal $18 billion in infrastructure directly and have a big surplus.

Great new song by Fishbone

Fishbone has a great new song mocking Trump supporters. All Trump supporters are racists or willing to tolerate racism which is just as bad. The song has curse words so it’s NSFW.

They posted a parody of a Trump rant on Instagram. It sure sounds like him:

The song is on their upcoming album available directly from the Fishbone store.

I first learned about Fishbone in 1988 when they backed Little Richard on a cover of Rock Island Line. It’s on a tribute album to Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly. I then got Fishbone’s fine album Truth and Soul.

The Phynx

The Phynx (1970) is not a good film but it is very entertaining. It’s someone’s idea of what would appeal to teenagers. It features an assembled band like the Monkees with songs by Leiber and Stoller.

It has an amazing cast of actors doing cameos. See this description from YouTube:

2,685 views Feb 12, 2024 What if a fictional rock band was recruited to play in a communist nation ? With Michael Ansara, Mike Kellin, Lou Antonio, George Tobias, Joan Blondell, Colonel Harlan Sanders, Xavier Cugat, Martha Raye, Ultra Violet, Pat McCormick, Rich Little, Maureen O”Sullivan, Johnny Weissmuller, Huntz Hall, Leo Gorcey, Ed Sullivan, Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy, Sally Struthers, Dorothy Lamour, Andy Devine, George Jessel, Trini Lopez, James Brown, Dick Clark, Harold Sakata, Busby Berkeley, Patsy Kelly, Joe Louis, Guy Lombardo, Marilyn Maxwell, Richard Pryor, Jay Silverheels, Rudy Vallee, and Clint Walker.

It’s available on DVD from Warner Archive but I also found this full version above on YouTube.

Dorothea Lange online materials

Dorothea Lange was a great photographer. She is probably best known for her photos from the Depression.

There are books available from the National Gallery and MOMA exhibitions linked to below. There’s also a DVD from PBS.
