Let It Bleed released 11/28/69

Let It Bleed is one of the best Rolling Stones albums and “Gimme Shelter” is my favorite Rolling Stones song.

The cover is great too – cake on the front. chaos on the back.

Newly found live Gram Parsons recording

I am a big admirer of Gram Parsons for his solo work and earlier work with the Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers. There’s a Kickstarter campaign for a newly found live recording from a 1973 concert. I am really looking forward to it!

The clavinet

The clavinet is an electronic keyboard made by Hohner from 1964 to 1982. Stevie Wonder used it for “Superstition” and other records. The Band used it on “The Shape I’m In” and “Up on Cripple Creek”.

Hazel Scott

I was watching a film on TCM recently that had a great song by Hazel Scott. Here’s more about her.

IMDB

I will post this video, though, because it's one of my absolute favorite videos. Im mesmerized no matter how many times I watch it. Hazel Scott would've been 105 today. First Black American to have her own TV show. And so much more

The Grateful Dead’s Europe ’72 is 50

I am not a big fan of their long jams but there are a lot of excellent songs on this album which was a 3-record set. I love the version of “Comberland Blues”. I think this was their best period. I saw them in 1973 and the concert was not as good as this.
