The Orioles need to trade prospects for starting pitching

The Orioles farm system is loaded. This is the deepest it has been in at least 40 years. There isn’t room at the major league level for all of their top position prospects and they should trade some for starting pitching. Orioles fans became attached to their minor leaguers because the major league team was so bad but things changed in 2022. Several of these players (Westburg,Cowser) are ready now and could be better than guys on the major league roster.

Here’s a list of the prospects that are in Baseball America’s top 100. When the Orioles drafted Holliday last year, the majority of experts thought they should have taken Druw Jones. It looks like the Orioles made the right decision.

I have also included links to an excellent series on the prospects from PressBox. Here are direct links to a few of the articles. The whole series is here.

I remember Shea Stadium

Shea Stadium was the home of the New York Mets from 1964-2008. I remember when it was built because I lived nearby. I never went to a game there until the early 1990s. It was a dump. I was surprised to see a few remnants of the 1964 World’s Fair were still around in the vicinity.

I bought a piece of the bleachers from Archer Seating.

The Eugene Emeralds’ alternate name is the Exploding Whales

Minor league teams have some wild names. I didn’t know about this until I saw the tweet with a player wearing the jersey.

Here’s the background

Tweets on first Jewish pitching matchup since 1977

There is more to Jewish representation in baseball than Hank Greenberg and Sandy Koufax. Still, this hasn’t happened often.

Cal Ripken’s 3000th hit – 4/15/00

I didn’t go to the game but was given a ticket as a gift.
