The Polo Grounds was the ballpark where the New York Giants played until they moved to San Francisco. The Mets played there in their first two seasons,1962 and 1963. I went to a game in both years. I remember things about the game but not about the ballpark

Game 7 of the 1979 World Series – 10/17/79

I was there. The Pirates beat the Orioles in Game 7 in Baltimore. As an Orioles fan, this was terrible. The Orioles had a 3-1 series lead with 2 of the 3 final games in Baltimore. I saw all four Baltimore home games and they only won the first one.

The end was very strange. There were very few Pirates fans there. There were 30-40 people jumping up and down on the field while over 50,000 Orioles fans left in stunned silence.

Willie Stargell was named World Series MVP #OTD in 1979. His two-run homer in Game 7 gave the @Pirates a 2-1 lead in the eventual 4-1 win. In the series, he hit .400 with three homers, four doubles, seven RBI and his 25 total bases tied a World Series record.

More likely there is something going on. He had phenomenal energy. There is a video of Spahn and Marichal being interviewed after their 16-inning duel in 1963.Marichal looks like he's been dragged behind a horse. Spahn, 17 years older than Marichal, is bouncing around like a kid.

Modern triple crown winners

The baseball triple crown (leading the league in Home runs/Runs batted in/Batting Average) is extremely rare. It’s only been done four times in my life and Aaron Judge has a chance this year. Judge has at least tied the league record for home runs; I don’t know of any triple crown winner who tied or broke a record for one of the three categories.
