#Stop Farr

Thomas Farr is a bad choice for a judge, even by the low Trump standards!

update 11/26/18 – the vote should be tomorrow

Trump is politicizing veterans judges

He’s doing this with Social Security judges too.  He treats everything as partisan.

This will do long-term damage to the country.  When the Democrats are in charge, should we reasonably expect them to go back to a non-partisan process?

Trump and Senate Republicans violate norms on judicial appointments

update 10/18/18

White House nominations to 9th Circuit set off firestorm

I hope the next Democratic president acts like this too since Republicans don’t care about how to respect Senators.

Then there’s the deal Democrats made with the Republicans to enable 15 judicial picks to go forward.  Now Republicans want more.  You can’t trust them.  They only understand brute power.

The article on the deal states:

“One nominee Democrats loathed, Thomas Farr for a federal district court judgeship in North Carolina, was left out of the package.”

I wonder if he is included in the new hearings.

The NRA is happy with Trump’s judges

Another bad Trump judicial pick

Another bad choice by Trump

Republicans violated the spirit of the deal on judges

update 10/18/18

Republicans violated the spirit of the deal:

Republican-appointed judges have an edge on US courts

Republicans outmaneuvered Democrats on this one.

Trump’s outrageous lie on Obama and judges

This is one of Trump’s worst lies.

Here’s more background on McConnell’s work to block Obama’s judicial appointments.

For anyone critical of Reid lowering the 60 vote-threshold, see this from the Politico article linked to at the top – the bolding is mine:
“Senate Democrats infuriated Republicans in November 2013 by scrapping the 60-vote filibuster rule for judicial nominations — a change Obama and then-Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) used to usher through 96 judicial nominations.

If Reid hadn’t eliminated the 60-vote rule, Trump would have even more judicial openings.

Trump judges – Democrats must take some of the blame

from the article:

“As of Monday, when the White House announced its “seventeenth wave of judicial nominations” — picture Marines storming a beach — President Trump has nominated two Supreme Court justices, 36 court of appeals judges and 99 district judges.
That’s 137 judges in roughly 19 months on the job. If he maintains this pace, Trump could replace more than 30 percent of all active judges by the end of his first term.”

1 of 7 appeals judges are Trump appointees
