Zack Greinke is a baseball pitcher who, to understate it, is eccentric. This is a great story.

Why Trump and his cult are afraid of minorities

Trump and his cult want to preserve the power now held by white Christians in the US. They have this misguided notion that they are the group that is discriminated against. It’s a racist movement.

At some point in the 2040s, the US will be majority minority – whites will be the minority. Know why they are afraid of that? They have treated minorities like shit and are afraid that minorities will treat them like that when they are the majority. I think this fear is very misguided. I think minorities know from experience that prejudice and discrimination are wrong and harmful.

As a Jew, I think antisemitism in the US is worse than at any point in my lifetime and I blame Trump and his cult for this.

The 2024 presidential election will be a disaster

I think it will be a fiasco and there is nothing we can do to prevent that.

I don’t think either side will accept a loss.  Two-thirds of Republicans still don’t think Biden won a fair election. Trump has already said that it’s rigged if he loses.  I expect him to declare victory on election day even though we probably won’t know the final result yet.  If Trump wins, we can look at voter suppression and intimidation, attacks on election officials and replacing them with Trump supporters, and foreign influence.

I don’t think Republicans are trying to win the popular vote. They know their views on issues such as abortion and guns are not popular. and that Trump will never get support from a majority of voters.  They will try to win by refusing to certify, in the courts with dozens of lawsuits, in state legislatures and ultimately the House of Representatives if the Electoral College is tied. Look at what they are doing in Nebraska to get Trump one more electoral college vote.  Their efforts failed in 2020 and hopefully would fail again.

In the 1900s, there were 25 elections and the popular vote and electoral college vote were in sync every time. In the 2000s, there have been six elections. In two, Republicans won the Electoral College even though they lost the popular vote.  This could happen again.

I hope I am wrong.

Georgia Republican efforts to undermine the election

Republicans are trying to alter the Nebraska electoral vote process

This is terrible. It is very possible that, just like in 2000 and 2016, the Democrat will win the popular vote and the Republican will win the electoral college.

More on right-wing lies about Haitians

Trump lied during the debate. He’s an evil lying bigot.

My memories of taking drugs

Let’s just say I inhaled. I never took drugs or even smoked a cigarette in high school. That changed when I went to college.

Marijuana – I had pot before I had a cigarette. When I smoked tobacco, I thought “I’m not getting anything from this”. I only had 15-20 cigarettes and never bought a pack.

Speed – I liked speed. There were white crosses (pills) and black beauties (capsules) which were much better. I would buy 25 at a time. I think they were 50 cents each back in the mid-1970s. One time I took four capsules – one of my legs was shaking and I couldn’t stop it. I used speed a lot during midterms and finals. I wrote a paper about 32 pages long during 45 hours which included about 3 hours of sleep. Speed made your stomach feel bad.

LSD – this includes pills sold as mescaline that were probably acid. I liked it. it made you think. in my day, it had a lot of speed in it; you could reduce the effect of the speed by drinking beer. The first time I took acid, I saw the first x-rated animated film Fritz the Cat. The colors were very intense. Another time, I recall looking out a fourth-floor window onto a street just after it had rain. A car was passing by and the mirror image in the wet street seemed as real as the car.

Cocaine – I tried this three times in the late 1970s after college. I really liked it and could see how people got hooked on it. However, it’s been so long ago, that I can’t recall why I liked it.

Quaaludes – I was much more into uppers than downers. I remember seeing college kids crawling on the floor. This was not for me. Young people know about quaaludes from the film The Wolf of Wall Street. This post discusses my one experience with them which was also the last time I took drugs:https://wp.me/p9tp7w-6kJ
