Do you really think Trump would let us see Garcia?

I assume that Garcia is either dead or has been beaten up. I certainly think he’s not in as good a shape as he was when he was kidnapped by the Trump administration.

If Garcia returns to the US, people will see he has been treated badly and may be more active in opposing Trump’s disgusting actions. I would also assume Garcia would talk about his ordeal and criticize Trump.

While I admire Van Hollen for going to El Salvador, I don’t think it will accomplish his goals.

Van Hollen met with the Salvadorian Vice President who denied Van Hollen's request for any contact with Kilmar Abrego Garcia – in person or by phone – claiming that he needed more advance notice and a week was not enough time. The VP also denied contact with Abrego Garcia's wife.

Trump’s bigoted NIH purge

Thirty-eight of 43 experts cut last month from the boards that review the science and research that happens in laboratories at the National Institutes of Health are female, Black or Hispanic, according to an analysis by the chairs of a dozen of the boards.

"Her $60 million contract with the NIH had supported an international network of researchers and clinicians who had produced pathbreaking work on a disease that infects a quarter of the world’s population and kills more than 1 million people per year."

I have heard that at least two people with leadership positions at NIH and National Cancer Institute may retire in the coming days, basically because they keep getting ordered by political appointees to illegally freeze grant funds to large recipients like Harvard and Columbia.

A few NIH updates in here, including some very small pieces of good news for a change. Also bad ones, obv.

NIH grants are still not being funded for existing awards. NIH reps are telling scientists they can't provide any info when they call to check the status of their annual funding. Now input into the NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION is unnecessary too.www.science.org/content/arti…

I am fed up with repeated lies about Social Security by Trump and Musk

There is very little fraud! This has been proven. I think it’s just a scam to privatize SSA, prevent people from getting benefits or throwing people off benefits who don’t deserve to be cut.

Trump's attacks on Social Security are a betrayal of seniors and working families across America.Over 1 million Kentuckians rely on Social Security — they've earned it, and we won't stop fighting to protect it. bit.ly/42yLG6S

Elon Musk and his allies systematically built a false narrative of widespread fraud at the Social Security Administration based on misinterpreted data, using their claims to justify an aggressive effort to access millions of Americans' personal information, a New York Times investigation has found.

We Shall Overcome – Instagram and YouTube

“We Shall Overcome” has gospel roots,

#ResistanceRootsToday in history, 1960: Folk musician Guy Carawan introduces “We Shall Overcome” to the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee in Raleigh, N.C., popularizing it as a civil rights protest anthem. The song has its roots in a gospel hymn that was adopted by striking workers. /1
