I’m no expert on film musicals. My favorites are The Band Wagon and Singin’ in the Rain.
This sequence from Broadway Melody of 1940 featuring Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell is great. I love the mirrors and stars in the background.

Hank Williams wrote many great songs but this is one of his best. “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” was recorded in 1949. The cover I know best is by B. J. Thomas from 1966.
QAnon is terrible.
Like “This Wheel’s On Fire”, “Tears of Rage” was first recorded as part of the Basement Tapes and first released on Music From Big Pink. It was co-written by Bob Dylan and Richard Manuel. I saw the Band four times and don’t recall them ever performing it. If they did, it would have been at the first show in 1970.
“The Prisoner’s Song” was originally recorded in 1924 by Vernon Dalhart. One of his cousins may have heard it in prison. I just heard it for the first time in a cover by Fats Domino (1958).
This is terrible.
American Songwriter published an article on how John Prine wrote “Please Don’t Bury Me” which is on his 1973 album Sweet Revenge. I saw him perform it at the Philadelphia Folk Festival before it was released.
