I know there isn’t much room for him but he’s ready. I sure hope they don’t trade him. He could DH and play some first and third. He’s only 22 and going to be a great hitter.

Washington Post article on Social Security
Overall, a good article but it should have the clarification noted in my comment below. The Social Security Administration administers SSI but the payments come from general funds.
The New York Times Book Review’s Best Books since 2000
I have been reading the New York Times Book Review since I was young and still subscribe to a paper copy. It’s been a great source of ideas on what to read.
Covers: The Sound of Silence
This is an amazing story. Simon and Garfunkel recorded “The Sound of Silence” in an acoustic version in 1964. Their album was not successful and they went their separate ways. In 1965, without them knowing it, their producer Tom Wilson added overdubs of electric instruments. That version became a big hit.
The decline in walking to work
I walked to work for 35 years. I knew I would always get some exercise every day I went to work. There was a downside of living close to work. When it snowed, I couldn’t say I can’t shovel out my shoes. I also couldn’t say my shoes wouldn’t start.

The Times is held to a high standard and they are failing. They failed in 2016 by over-hyping the Clinton emails and they’re doing it again by attacking Biden’s age. They’re pouting because he hasn’t given them an interview.
Republicans lie about their position on abortion
I’m not going to argue with these folks on Twitter. I won’t change their mind and they won’t change mind. The 15 week limit does have some public support. However,
- There are17 red states with abortion bans much stricter than 15 weeks. I don’t see how anyone can say that 15 weeks is the Republican position. See the chart linked to below
- There is majority support for opposing the overturning of Roe v. Wade. This contradicts the support for 15 week limits.
- The bottom line is that the Republican politicians are lying about their abortion positions because they know they are not popular.

Putting Trump in jail will help him
I agree with Judge Merchan. Fines do not change Trump’s behavior. Trump should not be allowed to keep violating the gag order.
However, if Trump is put in jail (where he definitely belongs), then the focus will shift to whether he belongs there instead of the crimes he is charged with. Trump will act like he is the victim.
The judge is in a no-win situation. He can tolerate intolerable behavior from Trump or help him by taking the attention away from the charges. There is no good solution.
Restored Mexican films
Powerhouse Indicator Films has recently released two Mexican films from the 1960s on Blu-ray.
I have them but haven’t watched them yet. I have seen prior releases of both films and they are minor but entertaining.
