This is terrible. It is very possible that, just like in 2000 and 2016, the Democrat will win the popular vote and the Republican will win the electoral college.

Trump’s appalling antisemitism
Trump has revealed over and over that he is antisemitic. I can’t understand why any Jew would vote for him.
Now he says it will be our fault if he loses – what will his cult do? I expect threats and possibly violence.
GQ article on Carl Hiaasen
Hiaasen is one of my favorite authors and I was glad to see this.. I have seen him in person three times. His books are very funny, good mysteries and always include something on the environment.

Here’s a link to a New York Times article on three authors from the South. They are all worth reading. I saw Barry Hannah and Larry Brown read at the bookstore Chapters in Washington, DC. I have included photos of some of the books they signed. I also have a signed Harry Crews book but never saw him in person.

Late Night with the Devil
Late Night with the Devil (2023) is an outstanding Australian horror film. It was directed by Colin and Cameron Cairnes who also directed 100 Bloody Acres which I have posted about.
It is about a 1977 Halloween episode of an American late night talk show where things go awry and get continually worse. It was smart of the directors to show the talk show parts in 4×3 ration and garish color. There are behind the scenes parts in widescreen and black and white which make them clearly different from the talk show. It’s funny as well as scary and very original.
