CompuServe was launched on 9/24/79

CompuServe was launched on September 24, 1979. I started using CompuServe in 1984. I used an Atari 800 computer with a 300-baud modem. It cost $16 an hour.

I thought it was great. For example, I am an Orioles fan. If they played a night game in Seattle, the box score would not be in the next morning’s paper. However, I could go on CompuServe about 1/2 hour after the game was over and see the box score.

Tweet with great Zack Greinke story

Zack Greinke is a baseball pitcher who, to understate it, is eccentric. This is a great story.

Republicans want seniors and children to work because of a labor shortage

A current labor shortage will be exacerbated if Trump wins and deports millions of immigrants. Where to get workers?

Relax child labor laws that protect kids.

Accelerate possible cuts in Social Security by reducing taxes – this would force some seniors to work.

Disgusting ideas.

There it is. Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) says Republicans’ next goal is to kick seniors off Social Security: “Get off of Social Security. Get back into the workforce.”

They want us working earlier and til we die to pay for their tax cuts for the rich. Supervillains.

Peter Green – the first leader of Fleetwood Mac

The verison of Fleetwood Mac that became popular in the late 1970s was very different than the original version which was a blues band led by Peter Green.

I saw Fleetwood Mac in 1971 – they weren’t a blues band anymore but hadn’t morphed into the popular version yet. The lead singers were Christine McVie and Bob Welch.

A tribute concert was held after Green died in 2020.
