The Joe Theismann leg injury is one of the most gruesome sports injuries ever. I’m sure that everyone who saw it live or on TV remembers it. The injury was discussed on the Simpsons in 1991 when Homer is watching a videotape of “Football’s Greatest Injuries”.

I just read about the stadium implosion at Oregon State University which inspired this post.
It’s morbid but I looked at this list of potential celebrity deaths for 2022.
I don’t understand why they won’t deliver.
I had this album back then. Holland is uneven but “Sail On Sailor” is great, “The Trader” is very good, and “Funky Pretty” has excellent music and terrible lyrics.

Most sports records are broken incrementally by small margins and frequently don’t last long. Bob Beamon‘s long jump at the 1968 Olympics broke the prior record by over 21 inches and lasted almost 23 years. It was an amazing performance.
No Way Out (1950) is an excellent film that starred Richard Widmark and Sidney Poitier who died today. It was Poitier’s film debut. It was released on DVD in 2006 as part of the Fox Film Noir series. It’s an excellent film and not well known today.
