NEW from me: A 3-part deep-dive on state supreme courts, an highly consequential legal arena & red-hot political battleground. The growing power of state courts has spurred tens of millions of dollars in campaign spending — and heated political attacks: https://t.co/nDBLIXISFy
Pennsylvania Republican is upset the state Supreme Court wouldn’t let them keep their gerrymandered districts so now he’s trying to impeach five of the judges https://t.co/JnHakPNUIH
As the pandemic enters a new phase, the Biden administration has begun stressing the importance of mitigating the risk of indoor aerosol transmission with two pages of recommendations on ventilation, air filtration and air disinfection from the EPA. https://t.co/FXgRn2AGLa
Changing the air in a room multiple times an hour – using a window fan, higher quality MERV filters in HVAC systems, a portable HEPA filter machine, and even just opening a window – can reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Dick Bosman is the only pitcher to miss a perfect game because of his own fielding error in a 1974 contest.
John Means of the Baltimore Orioles threw a no-hitter in 2021 that would have been a perfect game if the catcher had not dropped a third strike. He faced the minimum of 27 batters.
Here’s a list of pitchers who had perfect games through 8 2/3 innings. Here’s another list. It includes a 1917 game started by Babe Ruth of the Red Sox who walked the first batter and then was thrown out of the game. After he was replaced, the runner was thrown out trying to steal. Reliever Ernie Shore retired the next 26 batters.
There have been 13 almost-perfect games lost on the 27th batter.
Then there was today (4/13/22) when Clayton Kershaw was pulled after 7 perfect innings. I agree with Passan.
If it's a no-hitter, whatever. Yank him. Clayton Kershaw has thrown one.
But there have been more than 220,000 games in MLB history. There have been 23 perfect games.
Everything — especially a pitch count of 80 — is lining up to at least let Kershaw try. You cannot pull him.
Yep, Kershaw was pulled after "only" 80 pitches. But no pitcher has thrown more than 96 pitches in a game yet this year. Only SIX games with at least 90 pitches.

“Mr. Bojangles” is a 1968 song by Jerry Jeff Walker based on someone he met while in jail. The first recorded version was from 1967 by Allen Wayne Damron. The Nitty Gritty 1970 version was more popular on the charts. Steve Earle will cover it on an upcoming album of Walker songs. Covers include a version by David Bromberg which begins with him talking about playing the song backing Walker.
“Jerry Jeff and I stood there and watched this guy sing “Mr. Bojangles” in front of a closed-down old blues bar, and I could feel us both getting choked up. And I was asking myself, ‘Should I tell this guy that he’s playing Jerry Jeff’s song, and that Jerry Jeff is standing right… pic.twitter.com/FiJBpUTyNL
The Mississippi Sheiks were one of the great blues groups. They recorded in the 1930s. I’m listening to their music right now and decided I had to post more of it. I have posted about covers of their song such as “Sitting on Top of the World” and “World Gone Wrong”
Philly has about 450 dinosaur parking meters little different from the world's first, posted in Okla. City in 1935. Street parking mostly virtual and mobile now.https://t.co/nGrRKinclG
