RIP Wes Freed

Wes Freed was an artist best known for album covers, posters, and t-shirt designs for the Drive-By Truckers. His art was a great match for their music.

I’ll update this post with pictures of his work that I have copies of.

Four Home Runs in one game

Bo Bichette of Toronto hit three home runs against the Orioles yesterday. He had a chance for a fourth and didn’t get it. The broadcasters pointed out that it has only been done 18 times. That’s rarer than perfect games. It has been done twice against the Orioles (Rocky Colavito, Josh Hamilton).

Here’s an overview and some videos.

Tiny Tim

Tiny Tim was a unique musician who had 15 minutes of fame in the late 1960s. He had one hit record with an old song, “Tiptoe Through the Tulips” (1968), and appeared on Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In. His wedding was televised on the Tonight Show. in 1969. If you didn’t live through this era, I can’t explain this to you.

He even starred in an independent horror film, Blood Harvest (1986).

Covers: Oh Darling

“Oh Darling” is a Beatles song that is on Abbey Road. Paul McCartney first worked on it during the Let It Be Sessions. He just played it live for the first time.
