I was sorry to read that Martin Amis died

I recommend reading books by Martin Amis. My favorite of the ones I read is Time’s Arrow. I saw him read in the early 1990s at Chapters, a great bookstore in Washington, DC. In addition to getting books signed, I had him autograph this broadside from Black Oak Books in Oakland.

Martin Amis, who died on Friday, was primarily known for his witty and daring novels. But he was also an essayist, memoirist and critic of the first rank.

Van Morrison concert videos

Here are shows from 1974, 1979 and 1980. I never saw Morrison but he was great in this period.

This is the first of several videos from songs from his wonderful 1974 live album It’s Too Late to Stop Now. They’re from the 7/24/73 concert in London. The column on the right on YouTube has links to the other videos. It looks like it will roll from one song to the next video.
