Damage done to the Voting Rights Act by the Supreme Court

This is one thing that should be corrected by Congress. It won’t happen unless Democrats win.

The Trump Justice Department is not challenging laws that perpetuate voter discrimination

from the article:

“The commission said in the report that at least 23 states have enacted “newly restrictive statewide voter laws” since the Shelby County v. Holder decision, with moves like closing polling places, cutting early voting, purging voter rolls and imposing voter ID laws.
It found that 61 lawsuits have been filed challenging states’ voting laws under Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act — which bans discriminatory election laws — but only four of those were filed by the Justice Department, and none since President Donald Trump took office. “

Efforts to shut down polling places in Georgia fail

Georgia Republicans shut down 75% of black voting sites

It’s the local GOP’s fault.  The Republican candidate for governor, Brian Kemp, has opposed it even though it will help him.

It appears it is not Kemp’s fault

This article has a quote from Kemp opposing the closings:

Voter purges are increasing

Republicans are responsible for this.
