Lewis Hine was an excellent photographer in the early 20th century.
1973 press release on John Prine recording in Nashville
Sweet Revenge (1973) is the album that resulted from these sessions. I saw Prine play some of the songs earlier at the Philadelphia Folk Festival. I recall “Please Don’t Bury Me” and “The Accident”.
Covers: Far Away Blues
“Far Away Blues” was written by Fletcher Henderson and first recorded in 1923 by Bessie Smith and Clara Smith with Henderson on piano.
Covers: Got a Man in the ‘Bama Mines
Covers: Bouncin’ Back
“Bouncin’ Back” is a Robert Cray song from his 1990 album Midnight Stroll. I saw him in concert soon after that with the Memphis Horns.
Ann Peebles did an excellent cover on her 1992 album Full Time Love. I don’t know when or where the live video is from.
Covers: Read Me My Rights
“Read Me My Rights” was written by Delbert McClinton and Johnny Neel and recorded by McClinton. There were multiple covers in 1992 including a great one by Ann Peebles on her fine album Full Time Love.

The GOP has intimidated the media
This has been very noticeable and I have posted examples. It’s disgusting when the media says “Congress” won’t do something when it’s really “Republicans” won’t do something. RepubIicans have really worked the refs and intimidated the media.
The media should not be pro-Democrat but they should be pro-democracy and they are frequently failing. I’ll post more examples in another blog post.
Robert Frank and Cocksucker Blues
Robert Frank was a great photographer. He is best known for his1958 book The Americans which was the subject of an excellent 2009 exhibit at the National Gallery of Art (which I saw) and an accompanying book. Audio related to the exhibit is here.
Frank’s photos were used on the cover for the 1972 Rolling Stones album Exile on Main St. Frank also made a film about the Stones 1972 US tour, Cocksucker Blues, which has never been released. It is on YouTube. The album cover used images from The Americans as well as new photos of the band. The front cover photo is actually a collage.
I have a framed plate-signed print of the album cover.
