Backlash against civil rights is part of the pro-gun movement

The Wire is 20 years old – 6/2/22

I have lived in Baltimore since 1976. I didn’t have cable or satellite until 2007 so I missed The Wire when it was new. I watched it on DVD later on. It’s great.

Justin Fenton, an excellent writer then working for the Baltimore Sun, took pictures in 2014 of the present state of The Wire locations.

Why did Republicans do this if they think mental illness is the reason for mass shootings?

The media has to do better about pointing out flaws in GOP statements.

Experts on impact of redistricting

The bottom line is that blue state judges supported fairness and red state judges supported Republican gerrymandering. It’s not an even fight.

Lame column and headline from Chris Cillizza

I guess the new CNN ownership thinks it would be political if Cillizza identified Republicans as the problem. This is not the first time CNN has done this See my post on Brian Stelter.

Loudon Wainwright III’s new song

Loudon Wainwright III has a new song about the pandemic. The link to the very clever video is in the Rolling Stone article.

I have seen him perform twice in concert. The first time was with Richard Thompson. At the end, they played a Marty Robbins song together. I also saw him open for John Prine. I recommend going to see him.

For those not familiar with his music, his only hit was “Dead Skunk” from 1972.

I encourage you to check out his album about Charlie Poole High Wide & Handsome

Mask mandates work

Mask mandates won’t be back because the public is tired of them. I still wear a mask.
