1970 Orioles won the World Series on this date
The 1970 Baltimore Orioles (108-54) were the best team in Orioles history. They won the World Series on October 15, 1970 over the Reds in five games.
In 2010, the Orioles celebrated the 40th anniversary of the 1970 team. They brought players from the team back and introduced them before the game See the pictures of a signed picture I got at the game (only 70 made, $500) and the jersey Bobby Grich wore at the ceremony (which I bought on eBay). I also have a signed print of the World Series trophy.
They were not able to celebrate the 50th anniversary last year because of Covid-19.
Terrible action by the governor of Missouri
A reporter did a public service by identifying a flaw in a state online site. The governor called him a hacker.

His birthday is today. He was a great hitter for the Pirates.

One Charles Center – Baltimore
One Charles Center is one of a few Baltimore buildings designed by Mies Van Der Rohe. Charles Center was an area that was built to revive the business district downtown. One Charles Center was constructed in 1962. It’s on the National Register of Historic Places.
It may be redeveloped into apartments. It was auctioned on April 18, 2024.

First World Series night game – 1971
I saw the last game of the NLCS in 1971 that preceded this World Series. Five Hall of Fame players were in it.
It’s hard to believe that World Series night games only began 50 years ago. There haven’t been day games for many years. This is a mistake by baseball and the broadcasters since young children can’t stay up to see the games.
