Covers: The Things That I Used to Do

Guitar Slim‘s 1953 record “The Things That I Used to Do:” was a big hit in 1954. It was arranged and produced by Ray Charles. You can hear the wild Guitar Slim strain against the confinements of Charles’s precise arrangement. Guitar Slim was an influence on Buddy Guy and Earl King among others.

“Love Rollercoaster” from 1975 was an Ohio Players hit in 1976. The Red Hot Chili Peppers covered it for the film Beavis and Butt-head Do America in 1996.
