Lies have consequences

The Trump-incited riot yesterday was disgraceful. After the insurrection, some congressional Republicans who were going to protest electors in some states decided not to do so. Why? The riot did not change any issue concerning whether there was fraud or not.

I think they finally understood that their lies had consequences. There was no election fraud but the Trump cult believed the lies coming from Trump and other Republicans. This resulted in the riot yesterday. The Republicans who changed their minds made a strictly political calculation. The insurrection made the pro-protest side look bad so they bailed out. They have used it to get support and money from the Trump cult but decided they couldn’t exploit the lies anymore. They’re as bad as the rioters.
