George Peabody Library – Baltimore (corrected post)

My apologies to anyone who looked at this when I just had the title. This is the best interior in Baltimore that I know of.

High rate of hospitalization in Florida

DeSantis is putting his political future before public health.

The Texas governor has made the covid problem worse

Now he has to do drastic things like this. It probably could have been avoided if he didn’t ban mask mandates. Abbott is too busy with voter suppression to help Texas residents. At least some jurisdictions are doing the right thing and defying him.

Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure

Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure was released on this date in 1985. I didn’t watch his TV show or other movies but I enjoyed this one which was Tim Burton’s first feature film.

I learned that the Alamo doesn’t have a basement.

The song Tequila will never be the same.

And now for two tasteless Pee-Wee Herman/Jeffrey Dahmer jokes

Q: What did Jeffrey Dahmer say to Pee-Wee Herman?

A: Don’t play with your food.

Q: What do Jeffrey Dahmer and Pee-Wee Herman have in common?

A: They both whack off body parts.

Beasts Clawing at Straws

The 2020 South Korean film Beasts Clawing at Straws is the best film I have seen this year. It’s a crime movie about a bag filled with money and the people who want it. The complex plot and big group of characters is handled very skillfully. You don’t find out where the money came from until the movie has been playing for over an hour.

I watched the beginning again since it starts with someone carrying the bag. I didn’t think they had showed who it was but you return to it later. One thing I picked up is that there is a TV on in the background playing news stories. I though it was just background noise but the second time I realized that the new included incidents you see later in the film.

I’ve seen reviews comparing this to Coen brothers films and that’s a good comparison. All of the characters are flawed.

I have it on Blu-ray disc which unfortunately doesn’t have any supplements other than a trailer.
