On 6/8/1986, the Orioles defeated their hated rival Yankees 18-9 in the Bronx. 15 year veteran RF Lee Lacy hit 3 of his 91 career home runs to power Baltimore to their staggering 2,811th team win since starting play in 1954. What followed was a collapse of historic proportions. pic.twitter.com/Zhm53NgrSY

Republican senators won’t care. They’re more interested in appealing to their white nationalist base.

So much for Republican crime hysteria about crime in cities.
Dying Crapshooter’s Blues
“Dying Crapshooter’s Blues” is a Blind Willie McTell song. As far as I can tell, the first version is on the 1940 Library of Congress recordings. I am most familiar with the 1949 version on the great Atlanta Twelve String album.
Jean Renoir’s This Land Is Mine is on TCM on 3/22 at 7:30 am
This Land Is Mine (1943), one of Renoir’s American films, is good, not great, but well worth seeing. It’s also on DVD.
Covers: Broke Down Engine
“Broke Down Engine” was first released by Blind Willie McTell in 1931. He re-recorded it in 1949 on the terrific album Atlanta Twelve String. The album has much better sound quality than the old blues records and McTell’s performance is excellent.
Bob Dylan covered it in 1993.
Kid Bailey
Very little is known about Delta blues musician Kid Bailey. He only recorded one 78 which was made in 1929. “Rowdy Blues” is a terrific delicate romantic song. Bailey is joined by a second guitarist. I learned about him from Yazoo’s great 1991 compilation Masters of the Delta Blues: The Friends of Charlie Patton.
