I completely agree with this tweet. It is shameful that Cohn could still work for Trump after “very fine people” but quit over tariffs. It seems like Republicans in Congress are much more upset about Trump’s tariff ideas than his racism. Sad!

No moral leadership
Trump failed to provide moral leadership for the country again during the Rob Porter news.
He finally said something about domestic violence today but initially all he could do was praise Porter and not mention Porter’s ex-wives at all. That showed his real thoughts. Of course, Trump has been accused of similar actions by over a dozen women. I believe them women. Trump lies all the time.
Porter said he’s innocent.
Roy Moore says he’s innocent.
Putin says he’s innocent.
Trump says he’s innocent.
Notice a pattern? To me, Trump’s worst moment was when he said the white supremacists in Charlottesville included “very fine people”. His comments about “shithole countries” are right behind it.
The president should be a role model. This one is a despicable human being. Sad!
Tourism to the US is down under Trump
Chronology of the “shithole” comments
Here’s the chronology of the Trump “shithole” comments.
Thursday: Trump makes his “shithole” comment in a meeting
Friday: The Washington Post reports the “shithole” comment and states that “White House officials did not dispute the account.” Democratic Senator Durbin, who was in the meeting, says that Trump said “shithole”. Republican Senator Scott says that Republican Senator Graham, who was in the meeting, confirmed the Washington Post account.
Trump tweets that the Democrats made it up. However, he allegedly takes a “victory lap” by phoning people to see how it played out in the press.
Republican Senator Flake, who was not in the meeting, tweets that Trump’s comments “were not “tough,” they were abhorrent and repulsive”
Sunday: Now, Senator Cotton says that Trump did not say “shithole countries”. Why didn’t he remember this on Friday?
Trump said “shithole”, lied about it and is being helped by other Republicans to make it seem like it didn’t happen. Sad!
Good luck with that!
African countries want Trump to apologize for his “shithole” remarks. Good luck with that!
Trump doesn’t apologize. The only time I recall that he has apologized since he started running for president was over the Access Hollywood tape.
Trump now privately suggests that the tape was not real. He has already denied what he said at the meeting where he said “shithole”. If you don’t admit you said it, you don’t have to apologize for it. Sad!
Trump is a racist – update
Trump is a racist. If you want to review prior examples of his racism before the “shithole” remarks, read this. Many of us already knew he was a racist but I don’t see how anyone can deny it after his “shithole” comments yesterday.
What he said
Trump issued a lame denial today on Twitter but the White House did not deny the “shithole” remarks yesterday. Senator Durbin is on the record today saying Trump said it. Others who were there have also said Trump said it but have not spoken out publicly. I see no reason to believe Trump after he has told so many lies.
Reaction to the comments
Democrats and a few Republicans have condemned Trump’s racist language. Gutless Republican leaders like McConnell and Ryan said nothing yesterday but Ryan called the comments “unhelpful” today. Here are more Congressional reactions.
Trump’s base will be fine with his remarks. A CNN article said “A White House official told CNN the President’s “shithole” remark is being received much differently inside of the White House than it is outside. The official said that although this might enrage Washington, staffers predict the comment would resonate with Trump’s base, similarly to how Trump’s attacks on NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem did.” Trump asked friends how they thought the “shithole” remark was being covered in the press.
Here are reactions from individual Trump supporters.
White supremacists were happy with Trump’s remarks.
People in countries attacked by Trump have fought back.
Update on Republican reactions
This will not help in resolving the DACA and immigration issues. This will not be good for US diplomats and troops in the countries Trump attacked. This will not help US relations with other countries for trade deals and the fight against terrorism. Sad!
