Lawsuit on Trump’s business ties is proceeding

Washington DC and Maryland have filed a lawsuit against Trump over his refusal to eliminate ties to his businesses.  A judge is allowing it to proceed.

I don’t blame Trump for not wanting to give up his businesses. If he felt that way, he never should have run for President.

Trump needs to understand that even if he isn’t doing anything wrong (which I doubt), he is leaving himself open for the appearance of conflict of interest and corruption.

He should have learned from the Clintons.  The Clinton Foundation should have been terminated when Hillary Clinton became Secretary of State.  Since they didn’t do that, they left her open to charges during the 2016 campaign that there were shady dealings.  Even if nothing bad happened, it just looks bad.  Same with Trump and his businesses.  Sad!

Trump punishes states that didn’t vote for him

Trump punishes blue states and rewards red ones.  This is clear in his immigration policies, the new census question and his efforts to block the Gateway rail project.

Now, he is using transportation grants to reward his voters and punish the rest.  This Wall Street Journal article states:

“Some $314 million of those grants, or 64% of the total, will go to projects in rural locations, defined as those outside areas with 50,000 or more residents. About 19% percent of the U.S. population lives in those rural areas.”

All presidents are partisan but I don’t recall one who has been this vindictive.

Sad!

White evangelicals don’t care what Trump does

They’ll support him through the lawsuits.  They have shown that they are willing to ignore his personal conduct.

From the article:

Survey data from October 2016 underscores that transformation. In a PRRI/Brookings poll, the share of white evangelicals who said an elected official who committed an immoral act in their personal life could still behave ethically and fulfill their duties in their public and professional life rose to 72 percent from 30 percent in June 2011.”

Sad!
