“Summertime Blues” was a hit for three different recordings: The original by Eddie Cochran (1958), Blue Cheer (1968), and The Who (1970). The Who version features a great, concise guitar solo by Pete Townsend. Brian Setzer recorded it when he played Cochran in the film La Bamba. It’s the perfect distillation of teenage restlessness.
