A recent History Channel episode of Toys That Built America included the origins of the Hula Hoop. The Hula Hoop was very popular in my childhood. The film The Hudsucker Proxy is a fictional story of the invention of the hoop.
GOP judicial appointees at the state level and on lower-level federal courts are often more right-wing than those on the U.S. Supreme Court—and they rule on way more cases. So it's not just those six. With great thoughts from @BillyCorriher. https://t.co/y2APLfU8DM
Hmm, "quietly" is odd phrasing. The WaPo Trump Claims Database counts more than 100 times when Trump falsely said that he had appointed a record number of federal judges. He was so proud of his judicial appointments he regularly exaggerated about it. https://t.co/f3kK4WTBOf
Trump’s 3 new justices will shape the law for decades, but more than 97 percent of federal appeals will be decided by the 12 circuit courts, and the 167 appellate judges who sit on them. That’s where Trump’s judicial legacy will be felt most deeply. https://t.co/glh04UbpPu
This is a unique low-budget horror film about high school students. A new student at Central High finds that the school is run by bullies, one of whom is an old friend. He challenges the bullies who cause him to have a crippling accident. He takes revenge but finds that the oppressed students (the fat kid, the nerd, the pot smokers) are no better now that they are no longer intimidated. There are no adults in the film until the end which is at a high school dance.
Synapse includes a long extra with new interviews of actors and others involved with the film.
The original commercial showed a diamond being cut in the back seat of a car. The SNL parody had a rabbi performing a bris where the male infant is circumcised.
Apple will delay bringing its workers back to the office until a "yet to be determined" date, while giving all of its corporate and retail employees $1,000 to buy equipment for their home offices. https://t.co/y7MXaZ27AR
New: Washington Post staff just told there will be a phased return to office, with some people on Jan 31 and the rest on Feb 15. The Post will be mandating boosters and requiring weekly testing at the office.
I was playing a trivia machine game at a bar and one question was what color was Gilligan’s shirt – red, yellow, or blue? I didn’t know. It was always gray on our black and white TV.
57-years ago today ‘Gilligan's Island' premiered on CBS… (and I watched it every day after school for years) https://t.co/pbdaYxX154
The Air Force has discharged 27 service members for refusing to get the Covid-19 vaccine, a spokeswoman said, making these likely the first troops to be removed from the military for failure to obey the vaccine mandate. https://t.co/dfdruN2Qww
This is the right way to discuss this. Most media tweets I have seen emphasize the small number of military members who won't get vaccinated. https://t.co/KqhkOUrSNy
Conservatives who lost their shit over one stray remark from Obama to Medvedev would still make this guy the Commander in Chief and give him the nuclear codes, and I don't think we should ever let a day go by without reminding everyone what that means. https://t.co/SUnCWPlApp
