Trump, not Colorado, has put the Supreme Court in an impossible position

The Supreme Court will rule on the decisions by Colorado and other states on Trump’s eligibility to be on the 2024 ballot. Colorado said he was ineligible because of the 14th amendment and his role in the insurrection.

I am not discussing the merits of the case.

Some people are mad at Colorado because whatever the court decides will cause a lot of anger on the losing side. I don’t think worrying about possible violence by the Trump cult should influence the decision. The decision will be seen as political especially if the Trump-appointed judges rule in favor of him. As far as I’m concerned, the court destroyed their credibility with the Bush vs, Gore decision in 2000. Whatever happens will increase distrust in and acceptance of the 2024 election results.

The anger should be directed at Trump, not Colorado, If Trump hadn’t incited an insurrection, we wouldn’t be at this point.

Similarities between the 1983 Orioles and 2023 Ravens

The 1979 Orioles lost the World Series after having a 3-1 lead in games. The 2019 Ravens lost in their first playoff game after dominating the NFL with a 14-2 record.

I have read interviews with the Orioles players from back then about how determined they were to get back to the World Series and win it after their 1979 loss. 

Ravens players have made similar statements about 2019.

The Orioles won the World Series four years later in 1983. Will the Ravens win the Super Bowl in 2023? Their record isn’t as good as it was in 2019 but this is a better team. I think they get it done.

The Orioles need to trade for a starting pitcher

The Orioles need a top experienced starting pitcher. They could get one through free agency or trade. John Angelos, the Orioles owner is too cheap to spend the money needed for a top free agent so trade is the best option.

In addition, the Orioles have plenty of prospects to trade. There isn’t room at the major league level for all of the ones that are ready. To me, Holliday, Mayo and Basallo are untouchable but everyone else is available. Between prospects and players already in the majors, there are excess infielders and outfielders.

The Orioles will have to overpay since lots of teams can use a good starter. I’m fine with that. A trade makes sense financially too since players under control will get lower salaries than free agents. Dylan Cease of the White Sox looks like the best option.

I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think Trump will get convicted

I think Trump is guilty and should be convicted of most or all of the 91 counts in the several trials. However, I don’t think it will happen.

Do you really think that a group of 12 jurors won’t include someone who believes Trump is innocent? I’m sure they would like and say they would be objective during the jury selection process. 

I expect the results to be hung juries of maybe 10-2 or 11-1 against Trump. Maybe he gets convicted of some minor stuff.

If Trump is not convicted, I think this will help him in the election., He’ll rant and say the charges were fake. I am shocked that so far the indictments haven’t hurt him in election polling. Since this is the case, I don’t think hung juries with majorities against him will hurt him either.

Remember the second impeachment? 57 Senators voted against him. Anybody who got 57% in an election would say it was a landslide, Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to show Trump was guilty. The bar for impeachment and jury trials is high. I think that just like with the impeachments, Trump will get away not being held accountable.
