Wild Bill Hagy

Talking about the Orioles reminded me of the late Wild Bill Hagy. He was a great fan. At Memorial Stadium, he and his friends would sit in the cheap seats in section 34. He would spell out Orioles with his body. I sat there once or twice – it was fun.

Here’s a Baltimore Sun article published after he died. One thing I remember that is discussed in the article – you used to be able to bring your own beer to the ballpark. I saw a bachelor party in the bleachers once.

The history of Baltimore Memorial Stadium

Memorial Stadium was the home of the Baltimore Orioles from 1954-1991. It was also the home of the Baltimore Colts before they left and the CFL Baltimore Stallions. The AA Bowie Baysox played there for one year while their stadium was being built.

I went to the last two baseball games. The Orioles did a great job at the last one. They had dozens of players who came out onto the field and stood at the position they had played.

Here are videos on the history of the stadium and final Orioles game.
