Republican politicians won’t do anything about climate change because it’s a Democratic issue

Many Republicans believe in climate change but since it’s a Democratic issue, they oppose doing anything.  Just like with Trump, putting party before country.

from the article: “Bob Inglis, a former Republican congressman from South Carolina, spoke of his opposition in his first several years in Congress: “All I knew was that Al Gore was for it, and therefore I was against it.”
This implies that if the tables were turned — if Republican politicians proposed a climate policy — Republican voters might support it. In our research, that is exactly what we have found.”

Climate change roundup

Trump said climate change is a Chinese hoax.  Here are some examples of the truth.  The public knows it’s a problem but Trump will do nothing to fix it.

Trump’s made-up story that people in Houston watched the hurricane on boats

This is just more nonsense.  Is he lying or just ignorant?  He’s making stuff up.

He’s done this before.  The article reminds us: “This isn’t the first time the president has made comments that seemed bizarre or ill-informed. For example, he claimed without evidence millions of people voted illegally and inflated the number of people attending his inauguration and other rallies. He wrongly claimed to have seen Muslims in New Jersey celebrating the 9/11 attacks on television.”

Sad!

The death toll in Puerto Rico is much higher than we were told

The official total is 64 but the actual total is closer to 5,000.

Climate and environment article roundup

This article states:

“Majorities of Americans say the federal government is doing too little to protect key aspects of the environment including water (69%) and air quality (64%). And two-thirds of Americans (67%) say the government is doing too little to reduce the effects of climate change. These findings come after a year of change in climate and energy regulatory policies under the Trump administration.”

This article states:

“The Trump administration disbanded a federal advisory committee on climate change last year because of concerns that it did not have enough industry representatives, according to documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.”

The bottom line is that the Trump administration cares more about business than the environment.  They are ignoring the wishes of the people and causing irreparable damage to the environment.

Trump’s climate policies will hurt the South most

Trump’s ignorant climate policies will have the greatest impact on the South.

From this article:

“Significantly, the researchers from the University of North Carolina, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Richmond Federal Reserve Bank found that “the temperature effects are particularly strong in states with relatively higher summer temperatures, most of which are located in the South.””

The article later states: “The study ranks the states by average summer temperature. The top ten, in order, are: Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Arizona. Besides all being in the south, they all also voted for Trump.”

Many Republicans don’t worry about global warming

From this Washington Post:

“By and large, Democrats accept global warming and urge tougher policies to stop it, while many Republicans are skeptics. In the March poll, Gallup found that 91 percent of Democrats worried “a great deal/fair amount” about global warming; the comparable Republican figure was only 33 percent. The gap has grown. In 2000, it was 78 percent to 64 percent. “

More on the EPA and climate change

The EPA wants to scrap fuel economy standards.  This will cause a conflict with California which had the nerve to vote for Clinton so it must be punished.

Phoenix is working with Arizona State University to plan on addressing climate change.

More on the EPA’s approach to science:

“Sound science”, which the EPA wants to push, doesn’t exist.

Former top EPA officials say Pruitt’s approach will paralyze the EPA.

Even the man who led the EPA under Nixon and Reagan disagrees with Pruitt’s approach.
