I don’t think Republicans/NRA will allow any gun bills to become law

Even though there is public support for gun safety laws such as universal background checks and banning assault weapons, nothing will get done because of the Republicans and the NRA. Trump talks like he’ll do something but he’s caved in before. If anything does get done, it will be for show and it will be very minor.

If states do things, conservative judges could strike their laws down.

Americans support gun control

Polls show that about 90% support universal background checks and about 2/3 support an assault rifle ban. It’s too bad that the Republican party cares more about what the NRA thinks than what voters want. Vote them out.

How views on guns have changed

Trump’s visit to Dayton

He lied about what the Senator Brown and the mayor said.

The press was not allowed to take pictures but the White House released some.

He went back to attacking Biden after he left Dayton.

He only cares about how he was received.

Trump did not speak publicly which is a good thing since he has no interest in unifying the country. He should shut up and go home.

The right is blaming Sanders for the shooter since he followed liberals but Sanders has never spewed hateful rhetoric and encouraged violence like Trump has.

Video games do not cause mass shootings

Republicans just don’t want to deal with the gun problem or the white supremacist problem so they blame everything else.

Americans support gun safety ideas

recent polls

The Republican party, which gets massive support from the NRA, will make sure none of these things become law as long as they control the Senate. They care about their donors, not the public. Even Republicans support background checks but McConnell will never give it a chance for a vote. Sad!

Gun safety update 4/10/19

There’s a good chance that the Democratic presidential candidate in 2020 will support gun safety measures like the public and the House do. As long as Republicans/NRA control the Senate, not much can be done at the federal level. At least the Trump administration banned bump stocks. It is obvious that no amount of mass shootings will change the objections to things like universal background checks and banning assault weapons. Too bad we’re not like New Zealand which banned assault weapons in about a week.

Our best chance for change is at the state/local level.

Republicans distort Democratic positions. Democrats are not going to repeal the second amendment and they’re not going to take your guns (with the possible exception of assault weapons).

A question for concealed carry supporters

Concealed carry supporters want to be able to carry concealed weapons in states that ban that if it is legal in their home state. Would they feel the same way about marijuana? If it’s legal in my state, is it alright for me to smoke it anywhere? I’m sure they would say no which exposes their hypocrisy. They’re big on states rights as long as you follow the laws of their state. Sad!

Brilliant tweet on guns and mosques

This is 100% correct. After mass shootings in a church and a synagogue, gun supporters said they should be armed. They’re not saying it about the mosques. This is hypocritical and inconsistent. Since Trump and many of his supporters hate Muslims, they won’t encourage them to get guns.
